Some lucky RTA students and staff spent Study Week lending a hand in Honduras, Central America, as part of the latest project of the RTA Humanitarian Media Project. Students taking RTA 960 Select Topics in International Media, along with their professor Lori Beckstead and Distinguished Visiting Professor Bernie Lucht, traveled to El Hogar, a 4-acre campus that is both a home and a school for Honduras’ orphaned and desperately poor children. RTA’ers volunteered at the farm at El Hogar's agricultural school, pitching in to rebuild some animal enclosures, spending time with the agricultural school students, and also working on video productions to assist with international outreach and fundraising. The RTA in Honduras team also raised funds for El Hogar by selling 3D printed necklaces and laser-cut wooden keychains designed and manufactured right here in RTA. These sales, plus generous contributions from staff and students in the RTA community, combined to raise over $4300 for El Hogar. Stay tuned for more pictures of this amazing experience!
