TORONTO, April 7, 2015 --- The RTA School of Media at Ryerson University today announced a new experiential design project for students created in association with the Ontario Science Centre. The new project will include a hands-on design course and mentorship from the Centre’s curators, resulting in a prominent exhibition at the Centre in summer 2016.
Available to New Media and Digital Media students, the course will integrate idea generation and project pitching with prototyping, development, and management of a large-scale public experience. Beginning in September, students will participate in a series of workshops and brainstorming events led by RTA professor Steve Daniels. Selected projects will be fully developed during the winter 2016 academic term and featured in an exhibit at the Science Centre throughout the summer of 2016. Experts from the RTA School of Media and the Ontario Science Centre will mentor each phase of this project-based course.
“At RTA we encourage learning through doing,” said RTA chair, Charles Falzon. “This is a great opportunity for our students to get real-world experience, and fully appreciate the end-to-end process of designing an exhibit and installing it into a public space.”
