Each August up to 30 RTA School of Media students head to Los Angeles for an intensive bootcamp on the U.S. television business, RTA in LA. This two week seminar on the campus of UCLA opens a window to the largest media market in the world, the Hollywood studio system. RTA in LA at UCLA is open to BA, BFA and MA media production students.
Students meet with industry professionals, participate in onsite visits to production studios, and explore the U.S. industry through panel discussions and workshops with producers, writers, literary agents and development and network executives. More than just a “how to sell your screenplay” trip, RTA in LA emphasizes the business, legal and creative process of developing, writing, producing, and distributing projects in the LA industry.
As a capstone of learning for the course, each student pitches their own television proposal intended for the U.S. market to industry insiders.
