RCC 117

Jennifer has created stories for television, radio, print, interactive game apps and corporate websites.

From drama and comedy to animation and documentary, Jennifer has been a vital member of the creative teams for a number of hit television series. Her work has garnered a Leo Award for Best Writing in a Youth or Children’s Series and many Gemini nominations. She’s written multiple episodes of Producing Parker, Almost Naked Animals, Traders, Edgemont and Ready or Not and scripts for Show Me Yours, Big Sound and Quads. She’s produced and directed for an array of pop culture and current events programs including CBC Witness and mediatelevision. Jennifer also produced and directed the award-winning, film festival-selected documentary Douglas Coupland Close Personal Friend.

Her published work has appeared in WIRED USA + Japan, Fashion, TimeOut London and Broadcast Week and her first novel, earthgirl, was a New York Times Editors’ Choice.

Sharing her love of writing and creative exploration, Jennifer teaches media, screenwriting and comedy writing at Ryerson University and the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies. She has mentored numerous writers for the Writers Guild of Canada | Bell Media Diverse Screenwriting program, taught workshops for YouTube content creators and served as a juror for multiple award panels.

Having achieved many of her own creative goals, one of her greatest thrills sharing her expertise with students so they can tell their stories, explore their creativity, express themselves and find meaning in their work.

When she’s not wrestling with words and ideas, she’s walking the dog, kayaking, singing with Good Enough Live Karaoke, making things or relishing her status as Jeopardy champion of her living room.
