As a student, Julia worked as a Teaching Assistant for the courses Media History, Business of Creative Media, and Media Aesthetics & Culture, as well as a Research Assistant under the supervision of Dr. Michael Murphy and Lori Beckstead. As a Ryerson graduate, Julia has worked as a location sound recordist and sound designer for documentary, film, and commercial productions. Since 2018, Julia has worked as an Associate Producer/ Technician for CBC Radio, contributing to shows such as As It Happens, The Sunday Edition, Ideas, The World This Hour, and Front Burner.

Julia is extremely passionate about education, creativity, collaboration, and empathetic storytelling. When she is not briskly walking the halls of the RCC, CBC, or a film set, you can find Julia on stage fronting her rock band For Jane or contemplatively sipping coffee at home with a new song, screenplay, or sound mix.
