Larisa Gutmanis has over 25 years of experience in the film and television industry in the areas of production, distribution, acquisitions, marketing, and screenwriting. A graduate of the feature film writing program at the Canadian Film Centre, she currently teaches screenwriting at the University of Toronto and media classes at Ryerson University. She has worked at Alliance Atlantis in Toronto, Unapix Entertainment and Home Box Office (HBO) in New York, and is presently the co-producer for OMDC’s International Financing Forum, the official co-production / co-financing market for feature films during the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). She has also served on film juries for Telefilm Canada, The Ontario Media Development Corporation, Female Eye Film Festival, is a screenplay evaluator for The Harold Greenberg Fund, and works as a story editor for Canadian and European production companies. She has two feature film projects in development, is currently developing a TV series, and was a recipient of Creative Europe’s MEDIA development funding in 2012. She has also delved into the world of social justice immersive theatre and is in the midst of planning new community-based projects in Toronto for 2018. She holds an MA in Media Production from Ryerson University and a BA in Communication Studies from Concordia University in Montreal.
